Olamide
Adedeji (born 15 March 1989), known by his stage
name Olamide but popularly called Olamide Baddo, is a
Nigerian hip hop recording artist from Bariga, Lagos State. He
records mostly in his native tongue ‘yoruba’. He studied mass communication at
the Tai Solarin University of Education in Ogun state. He is a native of Ijebu
Ode in Ogun state Nigeria but grew up in Bariga in Lagos state.
In 2011, he
released his debut studio album ‘Rhapsodi’ while signed to Coded
Tunes. YBNL, his follow-up album, was released under his label
imprint YBNL Nation. On 7 November 2013, he released his third studio
album ‘Baddest Guy Ever liveth’.
Olamide’s talent
and unique style of music has won him several music awards, including
multiple Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies Awards. In
2012, he started his own record label YBNL NATION. This has given him the
opportunity to discover fresh talents and sign them on record deals with is
label. He has signed on talents like Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold and Temi Owvasa.
This has created an opportunity for the upcoming talents to make it big in
their careers and become successful artists as well.
Olamide is one of the
youths that are changing the game in the entertainment industry with his style
of music and his consistency since the start of his career.
On 17 July 2013, Olamide became the first
Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with Cîroc. On 24 October 2013, he
signed a multi-million Naira deal with Guinness. In November 2013, he became an
ambassador for Etisalat. He is one of the best rated artists in the industry
presently, his street orientation and its infusion into his music has made him
one of peoples favourite.
